Horse Racing tips: Niall O’Reilly’s 12/1 shout for Paddy Power Cork Grand National

Niall O'Reilly has selected his best bets for Sunday

Paddy Power trader Niall O’Reilly has cast his eye over Sunday’s action at Naas and Cork.

Speaking on the latest episode of our twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, the resident tipping expert has picked out his most promising selections – including a 12/1 hope in the Cork Grand National Handicap Chase.

2.00pm, Naas – Silk Forest

I think SILK FOREST is interesting. Her best piece of form came at Naas last year when she won by five lengths in a Listed race and this looks a similar grade back over 7f on really soft ground. She was a little disappointing last time out on good ground, but we can put that down to the ground. She’s bred by a friend on mine, James Ryan, and I think she’ll go well.

2.46pm, Cork – Captain Cj

CAPTAIN CJ for Dermot McLoughlin had some very good form last year – if you go through it, the horses he was beating are top class horses. He won by six lengths the last time out and the previous start he was only a lenght-and-a-half behind Minella Indo who looks a proper Gold Cup contender this year. Captain Cj for me.

3.20pm, Cork – Cap York

I’m quite keen on CAP YORK here. He caught my eye in the Galway Plate over an adequate trip, running on well from a terrible position. I backed him then at Listowel and he got brought down, or nearly brought down, just as he started to look like he was getting into it. He’ll be ridden by Michael Stenson, who is good value for his 7lb claim, and he needs the trip on soft ground – which he gets here. I can see him going very well.
