Horse Racing tips: 7 to get you giddy at Galway on Monday

Our racing boffins have given the nod to La Joconde in the opener.

13:20 La Joconde

LA JOCONDE has improved with each run, and this is a drop in grade following a third in a Listed event last time, so she’s hard to side against. Stablemate Queen’s Speech is well bred as might be expected, and she’s likely to be a worthy opponent if the market speaks in her favour.

13:55 Teed Up

The well-bred TEED UP continues to improve and can add a handicap to his tally having won here last month. Theophile, representing Saturday’s Group 1-winning duo, has to be a threat in her hat-trick bid. Soaring Monarch, who ran well twice at the Festival here in the summer, is also respected after catching the eye at Tipperary.

14:30 Mass Gathering

MASS GATHERING is in good order and generally contests stronger races than this, so she makes most appeal up against some generally woeful opposition. Rich Law Now Law looks a threat on the back of his encouraging nursery debut, while Cisco Disco can’t be totally ruled out.

15:05 Cannoli

CANNOLI didn’t quite come up to expectations when prominent in the betting on debut at Gowran, but she should have learned from that experience and she’s capable of improving past her stablemate Solene Lilyette, who’s the pick of the remainder. Bank of Dad can’t be completely ruled out.

15:40 Drombeg Duke

DROMBEG DUKE was transformed by the fitting of cheekpieces when scoring at Gowran Park last week. With the headgear retained, he is fancied to defy a 7lb rise and follow up at the chief expense of recent Fairyhouse winner Sagittarius Rising. Kudbegood is another to consider on the back of his good second to the selection at Gowran.

16:15 Cerberus

CERBERUS shaped as if ahead of this mark when a staying-on third at Navan on reappearance and, having shaped as if still in form over hurdles subsequently, he makes plenty of appeal in what is, admittedly, a competitive handicap for the grade. Future Proof is a live danger after his comfortable success at Leopardstown and Emerald Green shouldn’t be far away.

16:45 Stellify

Low-grade stuff with STELLIFY fancied to open her account. She continues in cracking form and is potentially ahead of her mark with a 5lb rise incoming for her fine run at Gowran on Wednesday. Final Endeavour struck at Fairyhouse under Gavin Ryan last week and has a big shout again if in the same form. Amlad must also be respected.
