An open looking contest. Al Shaamikh showed a likeable attitude to beat a few of these here last month, if anything this trip should suit more and he’s definitely respected despite having to carry a penalty. Champion trainer James Owen is well represented with an interesting newcomer Al Mutasallet and the jockey booking definitely catches the eye.
Stable companions Alameen and Sattam also hold claims the latter would narrowly be preferred of that pair. Jeewan has a visor on for the first time, but has ran with credit on both starts to date and this step up in trip looks sure to suit him.
The pick though is LOOLWA who was thought good enough to make her debut in the UK Arabian Derby where she ran with great credit to finish third. She looked thoroughly professional that day and looks the one to side with that run under her belt.
Plenty of pace on here, with Ornate, Leodis Dream, Fizzy Feet and Top Breeze all happiest going forward. Top Breeze is a contender after his good run at Chelmsford last time, but BENNY AND THE JETS, not seen to best effect in that race, may be able to reverse the placings this time.
Peachey Carnehan has to be of interest after last week’s good run at Newcastle and he’ll be 5lb higher from the weekend. Global Acclamation has run well here twice since joining this stable, but DUBAI ELEGANCE might be the answer. She travelled powerfully in a better race here on Monday and can take advantage of this drop in grade.
Kennocha isn’t a forlorn hope back up to 7 furlongs and down in class, while Vincenzo Coccotti is in form and Vitesse Du Son could yet have a bigger run in him. It’s difficult to ignore the claims of hat-trick seeking FROW though, with Monday’s C&D win achieved in fine fashion.
Collinsbay sets a clear standard on his best form, but he has been beaten favourite three times already, including at prohibitive odds at Chelmsford on his penultimate start. He may well outclass his rivals, but the fact that blinkers are now reached for is off-putting. The betting should be revealing where the newcomers are concerned, but both Main Target and RAFIKI shaped well on debut and the latter is marginally preferred this time.
An intriguing novice contest where it would not surprise to see good performances from several eyecatching newcomers, notably Beau Nash, Wirko and Patroon. Hasanaat can probably leave her debut run behind, but the suggestion is MILITARY MISSION who may be capable of better than he showed last time.
A competitive race in prospect. Siam Fox remains of interest and can again show up well, but preference is for fellow nursery newcomer NO RECOLLECTION, who should be suited by this step up in trip and may prove to be well treated. Kempton scorer Shady McGee is also on the up and is feared, while neither Surprise Picture nor Falcon Brook is ruled out.
Kim Wexler may have run into one over course and distance last time and she’s a big player despite a 3lb rise. Khabib had an excuse last time and his earlier Kempton second brings him right into the reckoning. A Day Of Mischief may do better, but similar comments apply to HEMMSA and she’s taken to get off the mark now dropped to 5 furlongs.
Lightly raced three-year-olds Rose Grey and Jeddeyd have the potential to make a mark in handicaps so are well worth considering, while the in-form Fair Power is another who can make his presence felt. However, TANGRAMM presents even stronger credentials so can rack up C&D win number five, with his most recent victory proving strong form.
A case can be made for a few here, but the most persuasive one is for ESTATE HOUSE (NAP), who ran an excellent first race on Tapeta when runner-up over C&D last time and is taken to go one better now with untapped potential still at this trip. Blue Eagle is feared most on the back of her good seventh here on her handicap debut, while course winner Never Said Nothing is worth a second look too.
