Ruby Walsh has picked out four selections to keep an eye on at Chepstow.
Speaking on the latest episode of Paddy Power’s twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, our resident jockey-turned-pundit is backing one of his favourite horses – Fiddleronetheroof – to return to winning ways over the jumps in Wales.
I wouldn’t put anybody off BOLDMERE. However, just for the time of year and what would be forward in yards – Nigel Twiston-Davies’ are always forward. Ballyoptic has a lot of weight and I can’t see him improving too much for this race, but Nigel Twiston-Davies’ horses usually come out of the traps pretty good in the early season.
I love FIDDLERONTHEROOF. I think he’s a two-and-a-half-mile horse every day of the week. He ran in the Supreme last year but I think he should have run in the Ballymore myself. Fusil Raffles has won at Uttoxeter and will be fit while Grand Sancy was a 148-rated hurdler but I remember turning up at Chepstow many years ago riding Silviniaco Conte in this very race and he got beaten by Cue Card. Colin Tizzard aims horses at this race, and Fiddlerontheroof sticks out to me.
?TIPPING PODCAST?
Quality jumps action this weekend and Ruby was on form on today's episode of FTHM. He was joined by the great Frank Hickey to guide you through all the weekend's racing.
FIX SUN was very disappointing at Fakenham on his last start where he made a bad mistake and didn’t recover from that. He was 1/6 when he got beaten that day, if I do remember rightly. He is a horse that looked like a chaser but Nicky Henderson is going to give him one more shot in a hurdle race so Fix Sun for me.
It’s hard to believe Garde La Victoire has ended up down at a mark of 141 in a chase when we’ve seen what he did as a novice hurdler, but that’s where he is. This is going to come down to fitness. Harry Skelton has gone for Spiritofthegames but I would be a bigger fan of AZZURI. William Marshall claims 7lbs off his back for Dan Skelton.
