D’Bai – 19:00 Kempton (nap) 

D’Bai has proved himself to be a smart performer over the last few years, and he has put up plenty of creditable efforts in much more exacting company than this this season, notably when hitting the frame in the Prix De La porte Maillot, the Supreme Stakes and a listed race at Newbury last time, shaping much better than the distance beaten suggests on the latter occasion, doing enough to suggest he’s still in good nick.

He makes his polytrack debut here and should be more than capable of regaining the winning thread now returned to calmer waters.

Tilaawah – 16:25 Kempton (next best)

Tilaawah showed both ability and knowhow one his debut at Chepstow in August, only managing fourth but pulling clear of the remainder of the field. He disappointed at the same venue subsequently, but that can be put down to the step back in trip, and, stepped back up to six furlongs at Wolverhampton on his nursery debut last month, he quickly regained the progressive thread.

Mr Top Hat – 18:30 Kempton (each-way)

Law Of One looks by far the most likely winner of this race, a well-bred Gallileo colt who has hit the frame on both of his outings so far, but. His price, as well as the fact he was turned over at odds-on last time, it could pay to side with one who has a little more juice in his price,

David Evans’s Mr Top Hat makes some appeal in that respect. Granted, Mr Top Hat is far more exposed than the standard setter, but he seldom doesn’t give his running, hitting the frame in each of his last five races, including one win.

He is rated just 1 lb lower than Law Of One on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings, and at a much bigger price, he looks a solid each-way option.
