Horse Racing tips: Paddy Power picks 4 to fly at Longchamp and Pimlico on Saturday

Paddy has cast his eye abroad for today's racing

Paddy Power has picked out four bets he hopes will come through ahead of meetings in France and the United States today.

Speaking on the latest episode of the twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, our main man has run his eye over three headline races due to run at Longchamp before turning his attention to the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico.

1.35pm Longchamp – Skalleti

Frank says SKALLETI deserves to be favourite and I can’t say much more than that. I think Skalleti is a good thing in this and Cirrus de Aigles won the Prix Dollar three times – I think I backed her every time.

So why not? Let’s get another repeat winner.

2.15pm Longchamp – Pista

I think Wonderful Tonight is a good place to start. It’s a horse that will absolutely love the conditions so must have a massive chance. Judging by the market, where she is third favourite or so, she’s going there well-fancied and in good order.

But when you’re looking for a Longchamp winner, the best place to start is Galway! PISTA for Joseph O’Brien won a maiden at Galway by any amount of lengths that he wanted coming up the hill on pretty deep ground – you’ve got to guess that ground is going to be no problem – and then he ran a very good race in Leopardstown so the form is actually quite good.

He won at the Leger meeting in a Group 2 so he’s improving all the time, the yard’s in form and he loves the ground.

4.00pm Longchamp – Princess Zoe

Call The Wind was first and second in this race over the last couple of years, and last year the ground was very soft. The ground was like it is this year, so horses that won then you would realistically fancy this year.

Odds-on for Call The Wind doesn’t really interest me, especially as its a two-and-a-half-mile staying race on proper deep ground. You wouldn’t often be saying this about PRINCESS ZOE but the big question mark is stamina. Will she actually get home?

I choose to believe that she will get home, and I choose to buy into Tony Mullins’ fairytale. Willie gets all the credit, but Tony can train too! I think he’s going to step up to the big time here so Princess Zoe and the fairytale will prevail.

10.36pm Pimlico – Swiss Skydiver

I feel that Authentic is very obvious, because of how he battled back in the Kentucky Derby. He was headed but battled back to win and that is always a good sign. But that was a tough race and you wonder if it has left its mark?

Art Collector has been hacking up but not at Grade 1 level so that’s a big question mark and Thousand Words is stepping up in class and going off reputation.

I’m going to take a chance on SWISS SKYDIVER. It has been well-beaten by Art Collector but since then has won and was second in a Grade 1 as well so brings some decent form to the table. Swiss Skydiver for me, but not too strong.
