This lightly-weighted runner is going to be overlooked in the market which suits us down to the ground as an each way play in a cavalry charge. She was slowly away on debut, but managed to win in convincing fashion at Beverley. Dramatically stepped up in company, Noorban wasn’t disgraced at Group 2 level and delving into her pedigree she’s not going to worry about the underfoot conditions either with only 8st 2lbs to carry.
Made In India out-ran her odds in Ireland last time when not beaten far by a proven top level performer in Glass Slippers. That run puts her bang on the premises, especially back down in grade. Trainer Eric Alston’s runners are often underestimated, but he is an absolute dab hand with the speedsters. Jamie Spencer takes the ride at his favourite venue.
Wondrous Words has been building herself a pretty solid profile and fairly bolted up at Redcar admittedly in weak company. She also goes down in the very unlucky tray from last time as she was held up way out of her ground and the winner made all at a steady gallop. She’s only been nudged up another 2lb by the handicapper and that should not be enough to stop her return to the winner’s enclosure.
Logician is bidding to maintain his unbeaten record and looked an absolute monster in a match-race at Doncaster last time, having put on all of the weight that he lost through his enforced absence when he was very sick. He could be even better then he was and we can look forward to a strong, end of season campaign, from him. Hopefully into 2021 also.
It seems we’ve gone for a few decent prices throughout Saturday, but she is undoubtedly the most overlooked runner from a prices viewpoint that I have seen for some time.
There is no questioning her ability and Lady Bowthorpe has only 5 or 6 lbs to find with the very best of these who haven’t been producing their best of late. She hasn’t had her races run to suit recently and some performers who were within close proximity of her are a quarter her price.
John Gosden’s Terebellum should’ve won last time after having a very easy time of it on the front-end. If they have her issues sorted, she’ll take a world of beating, but that is taken on trust and the selection rates are big each-way player.
David O’Meara’s runner put up a decent performance recently under softer conditions and this looks like being the softest ground he has encountered to date. However, it could bring another chunk of improvement out of him. The stable have two other runners in this contest and we get a massive jockey upgrade with David Probert taking over in the saddle.
He looks to have been drawn in stall 15, with a few pace runners around him. We can be optimistic that Young Fire has not reached his ceiling rating at the moment.
Kevin Ryan’s Tinochio looks absolutely tailor-made for this test, on this track, where they always go a very strong gallop with such a big pot of money on offer. He has already proven a liking for softer conditions when winning at Hamilton in very taking fashion and connections feel he didn’t quite go through with his effort last time.
He has had the cruelest cut of all – the gelding operation – and he ran very close to his stable-mate Uncle Jumbo off level weights and now is in receipt of 7 lb for this contest.
Stuart Williams’ runner produced a career-best performance recently in France when winning at this Group 3 level under similar heavy, gruelling, conditions and this should be a real test for the sprinters.
The added bonus is Breathtaking Look stays 7 furlongs particularly well and that stamina will help late on in the day. Cape Byron won this easily last season, but he is making his reappearance effort after 350 days away from the track. It’s a big ask for him to be ready to produce a massive effort without match practice.
