PERFECT INCH found it tough in Listed company at Salisbury last month, but she ran about as well as could have been expected so it is hard to judge her effectiveness up in both class and distance.
Dropped back into a handicap at Ascot last time, she resumed her progress, demonstrating she is clearly ahead of her mark as she drew a little way clear with the unexposed winner.
That form is surely worth viewing positively, and with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle she should take all the beating now returned to much calmer waters.
TIDAL RACER has been progressing gradually this season, twice finishing third in handicaps at Lingfield and Bath before showing further improved form to finally get off the mark at Wolverhampton last time.
Tidal Racer and his main rival both made their moves early and battled on well in the straight, wit the former always doing enough to fend off the runner-up.
He has only gone up 3lb for that win and appeals as the type to continue improving so he gets the vote to follow up for Clive Cox, whose yard is in red-hot form at present.
Despite having undergone a breathing operation, BEALACH looked as though he was going the wrong way with his performance in a Goodwood seller really not inspiring any confidence for the future, but he stopped the rot with an effort as good as any from him this year when second at Lingfield last time.
He got going too late to trouble the well-bred winner on that occasion, but the form overall has some substance, given the level, and it actually represents the best form on offer in this contest.
There is every chance that the switch to the all-weather could prove the key to him, and with the potential for more to come from Bealach on artificial surfaces, he looks a solid each-way option.
