Mick reckons these four should be in your betslip.

13:50 Newmarket – Mark Of The Man

Last Sunset was mugged close home at Ascot by a strong finishing Love Is You. But, it’s like old times for the Godolphin team with Saeed bin Suroor and Frankie Dettori, a combination that have won so many big races in these colours over the years.

This daughter of Teofilio is a deserved strong fancy in this 1m contest. Lost In Space won comfortably on the July course, but has gone up 8lbs for that win.

MARK OF THE MAN has the assistance of Ryan Moore in the saddle and was unlucky not to be placed behind Altaser when squeezed for room at York. He ran well at Doncaster and he looks the  one to be on.

I do like Lightening Shore, but looking at his action, you need to be sure the ground is slow enough for him. If they get a lot of rain, I would quite happily switch to him, but Mark of the Man looks the safest play.

14:25 Caspian Queen

A 6 furlong fillies handicap with nine runners and Betsy Trotter heads the fancies after a good win against 19 rivals at Thirsk, but she is 6lbs higher for that now.

Gale Force Maya has won five of her 15 races, but since she rattled off the hat-trick last year she has been consistent without winning. The problem with that is you keep going up in the weights!

Quickstep Lady is definitely of interestand she won at odds on at Goodwood, but also got beaten at odds on at Windsor.

It looks a toss-up between her and Richard Hughes mare CASPIAN QUEEN, who got beaten at Pontefract by Stormy Girl – but is much better off at the weights now. Ryan Moore rode her at Goodwood when the race didn’t work out for her, but she is a very good each-way bet in this contest.

15:00 La Barrosa

LA BARROSA is a son of Lope de Vega and cost 750,000 guineas a yearling. He was impressive at Ascot and can take the step up in grade now, especially as he receives 5lb from Ventura Tormento.

Dark Lion has kept good company but has struggled to stamp his authority in better grade contests so far. Yazaman promises so much, but has not looked an easy ride the last couple of runs.

Qaader looked really good in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot, however he has not looked the same horse since. He is the one horse that if back to that level would look very overpriced.

15:35 Mildenberger

It’s lovely to see MILDENBERGER back on track after his second to Nayef Road at Newcastle in the Sagaro Stakes. Withhold was favourite that day, but finished seventh and has kept top company since, and was close up at Salisbury behind Trueshan.

Ghostwatch looked like he got stuck in the mud in the Ebor Handicap at York, but he had run really well at Deauville and also at Newmarket on the July course.

Ranch Hand ran in the same race as Withhold at Salisbury and also ran with real credit in the Ebor. This lad has been consistent this season and will run well again.

Mildenberger will be hard to beat at the course where he finished third to Roaring Lion in the Royal Lodge Stakes.
