Mithras was a massive eyecatcher on debut at Sandown, flying home late to finish 4th, clocking a decent sectional as a result and getting a big upgrade compared to the rest of the field.
That race could hardly be working out any better, with the winner finishing 3rd at Listed level next time out and the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th all winning their next starts.
Mithras has an entry in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes next month and should take this before going up in grade.
On figures FIRST EDITION would look to be up against it here in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes but there are reasons for thinking it might be able to get involved here.
He improved plenty for his debut when winning in decent fashion at Sandown last time out. The favourite missed the break badly to make his task far easier but he was far more professional than on debut and showed plenty of pace.
Clive Cox has got a really good bunch of juveniles this season with Nando Parrado, Supremacy & Isabella Giles all winning at Group level and Cobh winning at Listed level and I think it is interesting that he always had this race in mind for First Edition.
Cox won this in recent years with Harry Angel with First Edition around the 16/1 he looks worth an each way interest at that sort of price.
