Tenbury Wells travelled like a very well handicapped horse last time out at Sandown and Rab Havlin was probably guilty of hitting the front too soon. He has only been raised 3 pounds for that effort and, with William Buick taking over, a mark of 90 could still underestimate him.
Girly Girlis very lightly raced and ran a very respectable race at Cork last time in what was only her second handicap start. She runs in this off a pound higher mark but still has a nice racing weight to carry getting the 4yo allowance. It looks a race lacking depth so I’d be disappointed if she wasn’t in the shake up at the finish.
Umm Kulthumfaces a big field though her form when 3rd in the Lowther last time, when she was still very green, is the strongest on offer here and I think she can confirm herself as one of the top juvenile sprinters in the UK tomorrow. She had previously shown very useful form on her debut when showing an impressive turn of foot late on to collar a useful horse on the line and with those two runs under her belt now, she looks a very solid bet to take this.
Things haven’t gone right for Bielsaso far this season but he looked a sprinter going places last season and based on that a mark of 99 would not be beyond him. He had a wind op before his last start and having been off a while you can excuse his disappointing performance. If he can recapture his old form he will have a massive chance in a race like this & at a double figure price he looks a very fair price especially with Paddy paying a very generous 7 places.
This doesn’t look a particularly strong race of it’s type for the track and I will take a chance with the returning Gladiatorial. This horse shaped pretty well in a decent bumper at the Punchestown Festival in 2019 with numerous winners coming out of that race. It returned to that track and turned in a deplorable effort with the subsequent break suggesting that was too bad to be true. Connections have Patrick Mullins and the good ground looks a positive.
