Horse Racing tips: Timeform’s 3 worth watching at Kempton on Friday

Our racing boffins reckon these three can bring you glee at the UK track.

Timeform Kempton

18:10 Publicise (NAP)

PUBLICISE undoubtedly looked in need of the experience on her first two outings, finishing down the field at Salisbury and Sandown.

But, she took a step forward at Goodwood last month, no match for the winner but sticking to her task well to hold on for second, beating home one who shaped well next time out.

She makes her handicap debut here and has been awarded an opening BHA mark of 67, but she is bred to be far better than that as a Dream Ahead filly who is a half-sister to the high-class Commonwealth Cup and Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Advertise.

She will certainly need to improve on the form she has shown to open her account here, but that is a very real possibility and she could prove a good bet up against a field full of plenty of exposed sorts.

17:40 Johnny Reb (Next Best)

JOHNNY REB shaped as if he would be better for the run when last of eight at Lingfield on his return last month, and he duly proved that to be the case when running well to finish third at this venue last time.

In fact, he ran better than the bare result suggests, on the back foot after missing the kick and having to work to get to the front from an outside draw.

He certainly shaped well enough to think he could get back to winning ways with more in his favour and given he can race from a much more ideal draw this time around, he is expected to be bang there.

19:15 Gentleman At Arms (Each-Way)

GENTLEMAN AT ARMS showed improved form to get off the mark at the second attempt at Lingfield in July. He made most of the running, quickening the tempo around three furlongs out and holding on for the victory as he was closed down late on.

He didn’t necessarily find any improvement when getting close to his only rival on his handicap debut at Salisbury last month, and he found a steadily-run race unsuitable at Leicester last time – the emphasis far too much on speed.

He is bred to stay well, so this step up should help and he could be worth another chance to open his account in handicap company.
