NAP – State Occasion – 17:15 Wolverhampton

A scopey filly with plenty to like about her prospects on paper, State Occasion made a promising debut, just lacking the turn of foot to land a blow in a strong-looking Ascot novice in July. Strictly speaking, she failed to build on that effort at Doncaster next time out, but the pedigrees and yards represented in that race suggest it was quite a warm maiden, and she did only finish a neck third. This step-up in trip is likely to suit her, and given her looks and pedigree, she is well worth another chance to land a race at this level.

NB – Bumble Beee – 16:40 Wolverhampton

Bumble Beee is bred to be sharp, a Kodiac filly who is a half-sister to juvenile winner Dreamy Rascal, and she showed some ability in finishing fourth on debut at Ripon last month. In fact, she was unlucky not to have finished closer than she did, pressing the leader and making her effort when hampered over a furlong out. She did pick back up and run on after the interference, but her chances of winning were already over. She should progress further for that run and a race of this nature should be well within her remit.

E/W – Beverley Bullet – 17:50 Wolverhampton

Beverley Bullet took advantage of having dropped back to his last winning mark when making a successful reappearance at this venue in March, sprinting clear in the home turn and keeping on well for the win. On the face of it, he has disappointed in his two outings since the resumption, but he is best forgiven his effort at Doncaster, and he did shape as if back in form when sixth at Beverley last time, not really seen to best effect after being denied a clear run over a furlong out. He is clearly suited by the demands of Wolverhampton, and there is every chance he has been overpriced in the market.
