An open handicap and it’s hard to know where the pace is coming from, with a number of these usually dropped in. Iain Jardine is a rare visitor here and his FIVE HELMETS will find this a bit easier than of late, having not had the race run to suit last time. Love Explodes and Ashazuri are others to consider.

Lingfield 13:30

Princess Siyouni’s recent course third came in a weak 0-50 and she’ll need to settle better if she’s to see out the longer trip, so O’REILLY’S PASS is given another chance having been pestered in front when sent off favourite on his handicap debut early last month. Serial short-priced favourite Volcano Bay was said to have run flat when well beaten at odds-on here (AW) last time and should do better despite her new mark having kicked in.

If Berkshire Miele has a future she must go close in this bad a race on her debut but the safest option is BRENNER PASS, who has at least hinted at winning potential.

Lingfield 14:30

Having contested two Group 2s since his winning debut, KING ZAIN will find today’s opposition somewhat easier and should enjoy a confidence boost. The Hood could be the one to give him most to do.

Lingfield 15:00

Stall 3 isn’t great but ARAMIS GREY very nearly justified market confidence on her recent handicap debut at Yarmouth and, with a bit more nous, she would probably have won. Al Mansoura, from a better draw and with her Ayr conqueror going in again since, is feared most.

Lingfield 15:30

Blairlogie is up to winning off this mark but he finished a beaten favourite on his last two starts for Mick Channon and has something to prove for his new yard. Night Time Girl should do better back down from 1m4f as long as she settles better from an outside stall, but SILVER CLIFFS (nap) was unlucky not to get involved at Yarmouth off this mark last time and looks the one.

Lingfield 16:00

A desperately weak handicap can go to GLENCORA, who showed enough on her sole turf start to date in July to suggest this is within range off a 4lb lower mark. There was some money around for the well-related Staxton Hill ahead of his recent comeback and he’s another worth considering.

Lingfield 16:35

Several have possibilities but the one that appeals most is MISTER DEPENDABLE, who was only narrowly denied at Windsor last time and should get a decent tow into the race. The main dangers are Dancing Jo and Harlequin Rose, while others in the mix are Spanish Mane and Disey’s Edge.
