There was plenty to like about the debut of WATERCOLORMEMORIES at Leopardstown when only beaten a length and a half and with progress likely on just her second start, she’s expected to go close. Zaffy’s Pride had plenty of these behind at Dundalk last time and is taken to be the main threat to the selection.
14:20 Eleuthera
Plenty in this with chances but the tentative selection goes the way of ELEUTHERA who was a winner at the Curragh two starts back and wouldn’t have been ideally suited by soft to heavy ground at that venue last time. Pretty Smart tends to run well at this course and she may bounce back to form while down at the bottom of the weights, It’s All A Joke had excuses last time and should appreciate a step back up in trip.
14:55 Improving
A competitive race but it might be worth taking a chance on IMPROVING who has been knocking on the door of late and his talented rider’s 7lb claim may help him get his head in front. Teddy Boy has been going close and is respected again while Bellick isn’t ruled out back at this venue.
15:30 Coulthard (NAP)
It would be no surprise to see some support for Lipizzaner after a promising start to his career that included a fourth in the Norfolk Stakes when last seen but the subsequent absence is a slight concern and preference is for COULTHARD (nap). Michael O’Callaghan’s charge justified a Group 3 entry on just his second start when placed at the Curragh last week, despite giving away plenty of ground at the start and he can benefit from a drop in class here.
16:05 Celtic Manor
Really open for a dozen runners. His liking for Navan renders the locally-trained CELTIC MANOR of some interest. Many of these come here in good form, including Principalship, who may not want the ground drying out as forecast.
16:40 A Place Apart
A tricky one for punters. A PLACE APART is modest enough on the Flat but tends to give his running and has the help of Sam Ewing’s 10lb claim. Many are in with chances, with Happy Company and Thefaithfulindian obvious contenders.
17:10 Lady De Vesci
LADY DE VESCI will appreciate the drying ground here and is a hopeful selection under Adam Farragher. Not that many make much appeal, with Arctic Blaze among the exceptions.
17:40 Cresent Lake
This will not take much winning and Curragh sixth CRESENT LAKE is accordingly interesting dropping back in trip. Orderofretaliation has to be feared on debut.
