ALQIFAAR is bred to be useful and, though she looked in need of the experience on debut, she still showed signs of ability as she finished fifth in what has since proven a very warm novice, seven of the runners all improving next time out.
That was in August of 2019 and, a year on Alqifaar duly did her own bit for the form as she finished second at Kempton, having no answer for the winner’s turn of foot but building on her debut effort all the same.
This is just her third race so further improvement is surely in the pipeline, and she is a confident selection to make a winning start to life in handicaps.
BULLFINCH got off the mark in good style on just his second outing at Chelmsford last term, knowing a lot more than on his debut and leaving the impression that there was more to come.
He duly proved that to be the case when scoring under a penalty at over this course and distance last time, showing much the best turn of foot off an ordinary pace.
He makes his handicap debut here and is difficult to oppose with improvement anticipated.
NOMADIC EMPIRE only went down to a subsequent winner at York on his second outing and, given a bit of a break, he barely had to improve on that form to run out a ready winner at Thirsk last month, likely to have won even more cosily had he not hung left late on.
He took another step forward when an excellent head third in a Listed race at York a couple of weeks back, very comfortable with the pace up in grade and probably still a touch of ironing out to be done.
He arrives here on an upward curve and there has been enough in his recent outings to suggest he might do better at this sort of level, so he is well worth considering, particularly with the step up in trip likely to be a positive move.
