Horse Racing tips: Matt Chapman’s 7 sweet selections for Saturday’s ITV Racing

Matt has your back for all the action on the box.

Matt Chapman Cheltenham

Three meetings and seven races on ITV to solve Saturday as Goodwood, Newmarket and Windsor all get a showing.

Let’s get straight to it and try and sort a winner or two.

Here’s what has caught my eye:

Goodwood Race Course

The latest racing odds are on PaddyPower.com now

13:50 Goodwood – Pomelo

The coverage starts with the Group 3 Prestige Stakes for juveniles over 7 furlongs. Some smart prospects here and Happy Romance has already been a star for Richard Hannon.

However, I was really taken by POMELO when she won first time at Newbury for Ralph Beckett and Harry Bentley. The daughter of Dubawi started a short priced favourite suggesting connections knew they had a good horse and she absolutely bolted up. She could be really good.

14:25 Goodwood – Battered

Now a handicap over 7 furlongs. BATTERED goes at a big price again here for Beckett and is a very well handicapped horse. This trip with juice is ideal and Oisin Murphy is on top which is a bonus, but the problem is Battered has been out of form.

If he returns to anything near his best, he would be in with a great each-way shout. I’ll take a chance.

15:00 Goodwood – Cabaletta

Back to Group 3 company here for the March Stakes over 1m 6f and it’s hard to get away from CABALETTA here who is a real improver for Roger Varian and David Egan.

The form of her second in the Lillie Langtry was given a boost by the winner at York last week and this does not look the hardest of renewals.

15:35 Goodwood – Century Dream

Finally at Goodwood, it’s a Group 2 in the shape of the Celebration Mile over – you have guessed it – a mile. Benbatl has some form with juice in the ground, but it’s fair to say his best efforts on a better surface.

I’ll take a chance CENTURY DREAM steals this from the front for Simon and Ed Crisford as well as James Doyle. My hope was a good winner at Newbury first time out this season, but disappointed last time and I hope he can bounce back.

14:05 Newmarket – Summerghand

Over at Newmarket ITV show just this race, which is a Listed contest over 6 furlongs. The contest presents a big chance for class handicapper SUMMERGHAND here for David O’Meara and William Buick.

The six-year-old is in tremendous form and has every chance on ratings. The main worry is he won’t get a strong pace to run at, so fingers crossed someone goes off like the clappers.

14:40 Windsor – Desert Encounter

It’s certainly great to have Windsor on ITV and this is a Listed event over nearly 1m 4f. DESERT ENCOUNTER deserves another big win, and this is a huge chance for Jamie Spencer and Dave Simcock.

He’s been knocking at the door this season and conditions will hold no fears. He has every chance in an open race.

15:15 Windsor – Fox Chairman

Now the big one at Windsor with the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes over 1m 2f. I’ll be surprised if FOX CHAIRMAN doesn’t get back to winning ways under Andrew Balding and Silvestre de Sousa.

The Kingman colt ran a good race at York when second to Aspetar and should have a huge chance here.

Jockey Silvestre De Sousa misses rides at Goodwood to be here, so that’s another sign.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas! You hear me Paddy?
