14:25 at Goodwood – Alemaratalyoum
Alemaratalyoum hasn’t been at his best this season but he is yet to get his preferred testing ground but conditions should really be in his favour at Goodwood on Saturday. In his five runs this season, four were very poor but he did show that the fire still burns when an excellent third at Epsom off a mark of 93.
He has now dropped to a mark of 91 and he absolutely bolted up in a valuable claiming handicap here last season off a mark of 90. The ground that day was very testing and he now finds himself back at Goodwood only a pound higher and on his favoured surface.
On seven starts on ground described as soft or worse, he has four wins a second, third and a fourth, never being beaten more than three lengths. He looks sure to go well.
16:45 at Goodwood – Kryptos
Kryptos is a horse that I thought was destined to make up into a top-class handicapper at the very least when he bolted up at Doncaster off a mark of 95 back in September 2017.
Unfortunately, he met with an injury and spent nearly three seasons off the track but he has shown glimpses that the ability remains, no more so than last time at Chester over an extended ten furlongs where he perhaps didn’t quite get home when beaten just a neck in third.
The drop to nine furlongs here on soft ground looks ideal and he can definitely strike off his current mark of 89 when everything drops right. With a couple of last time out winners in opposition, we should get a decent price on Kryptos and perhaps might even be an each way play for those who prefer that sort of bet.
17:05 at Navan – Galileo Chrome
Galileo Chrome can take the step up to Listed company in his stride and land the hat trick stepping up in trip. Well punted in a Curragh maiden on his second start he showed a good attitude and plenty of stamina when getting up to land the gamble.
The form of that maiden looks really solid with subsequent Group 2 second Dawn Rising and Derby winner Serpentine behind. Galileo Chrome followed up last time at Leopardstown in effortless fashion, giving the 93 rated Masteroffoxhounds a five-length beating in receipt of 3lbs.
The impression he made that day was that he was a horse that could make a mark in Group company before the year is out and he can take this on the way to bigger things.
