Horse Racing Tips: 8 fine fancies at Fontwell on Friday

Both Zarafshan and Dante’s View hold leading claims but neither has yet managed to win a race. It is three years since QULOOB scored on the Flat but his recent return to form edges him the vote.

First Man will clearly take all the catching if he repeats last week’s Stratford form but he had quite a hard race there. Gary Moore sends out two feasible candidates in Fume, also ahead of the handicapper, and SEABORN, who should still have some untapped potential as a hurdler off his revised mark.

Chasing newcomers Favori de Sivola and Seaside Girl could well prove good enough to take this moderate contest but GLENGAR has solid credentials over fences this summer and looks the safest bet.

13:40 Pens Man

Recent winners Compadre and Shantou Sunset appeal but this may well be the chance for PENS MAN to show what he can do over hurdles.

14:15 Flying Verse (NAP)

Never Learn still looks on a competitive mark but FLYING VERSE (nap) has run two fine races this summer and can gain a deserved win.

14:45 Black Anthem

Transpennine Star might well win again but conditions at Stratford last week were testing and he’s only had nine days to recover. BLACK ANTHEM is performing most consistently and can defy the 10lb rise for his latest win.

15:15 Ashutor

A qood-quality handicap chase and there’s no rush to dismiss any of the five. ASHUTOR impressed with his jumping in winning at Stratford and, on 3lb better terms, he may be able to reverse previous Newton Abbot placings with Beat The Judge. The selection won’t be as inconvenienced by any showers as one or two of these.

15:50 Surf Walk

Who knows what lurks amongst the five newcomers but SURF WALK has some experience to call upon and he shaped with a good bit of promise in both his runs earlier this year. Little Awkward may prove best of the debutants.
