Fujaira Prince looked the part as he came home a rare favourite winner of the Ebor Handicap 2020 by around half a length. Glencadam Glory provided the sternest test to Roger Varian’s inmate, but Fujaira Prince’s class, speed and endurance saw him through.

Essential reading for day four of the York Races Ebor Festival on Saturday
Hollie Doyle kept Certain Lad powering forward to take the opener on the final day of the Ebor Festival. Epic Hero tried hard and challenged all the way but couldn’t match the winner and finished in front of Lord Glitters.
Coltrane kept on to win this briskly-run race. The weather has started to make it’s mark on the ground and much of the field was strung out a long way behind the winner. Paddy’s each-way punt Arthurian Fable was second home in front of Kipps and A Star Above.
Safe Voyage held off the challenge of strong favourite One Master and even pulled away from him inside the final 50 yards. The latter was second but had no answer to the winner’s speed at the death. Queen Jo Jo was close behind One Master and Threat finished fourth.
Fujaira Prince put in a champion performance to claim the Ebor Handicap 2020 by just over half a length. The SP fav lived up to the billing as he came under strong pressure from Glencadam Glory but the stayed on to fend off the challenge of David Allan’s ride. Verdana Blue came home in third and had a handy gap back to Monica Sheriff in fourth and Euchen Glen in fifth.
Acklam Express took a thrilling Julia Graves Roses Stakes, winning it by a nose hair from Queen Of Rio. The top four were seperated by no more than half a length as Nomadic Empire in third and Mamba Wamba could easily have won this as well on another day. A steward’s enquiry has been called on this race, but it is not investigating the winner.
Every horse in this decent-sized field might have thought they had a chance with four to go but it was Lucander who took it in the end. He eased away from the chasing pack of Sky Defender, Fifth Position and Cockalorum who all finished within a neck of each other in that order.
Back to Timeformfor a tip in the final race of the Ebor Festival 2020 as we look to go out with a bang. They fancy Sampers Seven in the closer. There’s a few ahead of him in the market though, with Meraasthe overnight favourite.
