ELYSIUM is the horse I really must tip up in this race. She got a mark of 86 after three runs and if she performs to that mark, she will be very tough to beat in this contest.
It’s interesting that Colin Keane has decided to ride her over Amber Kite, who Keane won on at Gowran Park back in July.
However, Elysium has the class to more than justify Keane’s decision to switch over from Amber Kite and Noel Meade’s charge will take plenty of beating in the second race on the card.
The fourth contest of the day is a handicap, taking place over 7 furlongs. It has to be said that FRANK ARTHUR slightly disappointed in his last outing back at the beginning of the month in the Curragh after being sent off at 11/2.
He tried to do it the hard way there though, and that probably didn’t help his cause.
However, the gelding did win his maiden over course and distance here back in June. They key to this race could be the fact that young apprentice jockey Sam Ewing is in the saddle and takes a very valuable 10lbs off.
We’ve seen Ewing’s ability come to the fore over the last number of weeks and he rode Ardhoomey to victory at Cork in the Doneraile Handicap for Ger Lyons on August 08. He looks a really promising rider and one to watch in the future.
His 10lb claim here makes a huge difference in these types of races and the horse looks unexposed too.
All that makes Frank Arthur a confident selection in this race.
