Horse Racing tips: Our trader’s 4 to score at Newbury on Saturday

Our trader loves the look of this fab four at the Berkshire track today.

13:50 Francesco Guardi

FRANCESO GUARDI created a really favourable impression when winning at Salisbury recently and looks the type to improve massively on that effort.

He will need to, as some of the top stables are represented here. Although, given he’s related to the brilliant Treve and by the brilliant Frankel, there’s a good a chance he could develop into a top-class horse.

His sectionals the last day were what marked him out as a horse to follow and I’m hoping in a stronger run contest, which he should get here, that he’ll be even better.

His trainer James Ferguson has had an excellent debut season, running at just over a 25% strike rate, and I’m hoping Francesco Guardi could add to that tally tomorrow.

14:25 Pride Of America

PRIDE OF AMERICA has been on my radar since shaping very well on debut at Wolverhampton, in a race that has worked out very well.

He backed that up with an impressive win on his next start and then on reappearance this year, he shaped well in the Lingfield Derby trial won by Derby fourth English King, though looked to fail to see out the trip having been very keen early.

This looks a weak handicap, full of exposed types and although Pride Of Americas mark is no gimme, he’s open to improvement. That makes him worth chancing at the prices.

15:00 Max Vega

I’m giving MAX VEGA one last chance, despite a very disappointing season to date.

He ran badly last time in the Derby, though I’m willing to blame the ground. I just believe the softer conditions and step up in trip could see him return to the form he showed last year when easily winning the Zetland Stakes at Newmarket, where he recorded some eye-catching sectionals for a stayer.

He’s definitely a risky proposition, though his price is big enough to chance him.

16:45 Surrey Pride

SURREY PRIDE was very eye-catching last time at Sandown, and he looks a winner in waiting off his current mark of 79.

He showed useful form as a two-year-old in races that have worked out quite well and this race looks a very good opportunity for him to get off the mark.

He should like the ground and the stable’s horses have been running quite well of late, so everything points towards a big run tomorrow.
