17:00 Believe In Love (NAP)
This is a competitive handicap but BELIEVE IN LOVE stands out on the back of an impressive success at Goodwood. She had been progressing well prior to racing’s hiatus and got off the mark with a narrow win at Kempton, where she did well to get the better of one that had the run of things.
Believe In Love was tackling a mile and a half for the first time at Goodwood and she relished the step up in distance in a race run at a strong gallop, which ensured stamina was fully tested. She raced in snatches at Goodwood, but made headway from over two furlongs out and found plenty to take up the running inside the final furlong, hitting the line powerfully.
Her pedigree also indicates she will appreciate this further step up in trip to a mile and a three-quarters as she is a half-sister to Top Trip, who was placed in an Ascot Gold Cup.
16:25 Grande Rumore (Next Best)
GRANDE RUMORE proved consistent in maiden/novice company, finishing runner-up on all three occasions, and she gained a deserved success on her handicap debut at Leicester last time, justifying support.
She was pushed along over two furlongs out in that 7-furlong handicap but stayed on strongly to lead inside the final furlong and was always in command from that point.
She is still fairly treated after going up 4lb, and the step up in trip looks sure to suit based on her stamina-packed pedigree and how well she stuck to her task at Leicester. She could have a bit more to offer over a mile.
15:15 Rock Boy Grey (Each-Way)
ROCK BOY GREY disappointed over 7 furlongs at Ascot last time, but he was up in trip and class on that occasion so he can be easily forgiven.
He had previously finished an excellent second at Newbury, not for the first time shaping as if he is on a mark that he can defy.
He has a largely consistent, likeable profile and has conditions in his favour, so a bold bid looks on the cards.
