Horse Racing tips: 3 Thursday trader picks for Leopardstown & Tramore

Two tracks. Three picks. What's not to love?

Leopardstown 13:30

This is a confined maiden for horses bought for €30,000 or less at the sales. and one I really like is Jessica Harrington’s Fly Girl.

She finished a reasonably close up fifth on debut over a mile at this venue late last month to Nicest and drops back to 7f now. She’s well drawn in stall one under jockey Shane Foley and having that little bit of experience heading into this contest should really stand to her in a race full of debutants.

She’s my bet of the day.

Tramore-races

Tramore 16:40

John J Walsh’s Ballyegan Hero has had nine runs over fences and that experience could count for a lot in this 2m Novice Chase. He’s mixed it a bit between hurdles and fences and finished second to Sean Says at Limerick last time out over hurdles last month.

If he runs to his mark of 116 on Thursday, he should go very close to winning at Tramore against runners who lack experience over fences.

Tramore 17:10

A beginners’ chase over 2m 5f and Elegant Dan has some decent back form to call on. His trainer David O’Brien has a 14 per cent strike rate at the track over the last five seasons and targets this venue. Elegant Dan has really improved over hurdles recently and this looks a weak beginners chase if he can reproduce his hurdles form over the larger obstacles.
