So that’s it for another Glorious Goodwood. While we didn’t have any punters in attendance at the course on the final day, there ware plenty of memorable moments throughout the week courtesy of Motaather, Stradivarius and Battaash.
But on day 5, Summerghand won a typically thrilling Stewards’ Cup, pipping Kimifive by a nose after a late surge in the day’s big race.
While we’re already looking forward to Glorious Goodwood 2021, join us as we go through Saturday’s action as it happened.
Treacherous made it four wins in 2020 with an impressive charge inside the final furlong to take this one by a length. Dream Today recovered from a bad start to claim second ahead of The Lamplighter, fav Rewaayat and Saluti.
Hochfeld stayed in style despite a very strong challenge from Shailene up to the line to take this one by a neck for Mark Johnston. Indianapolis looked well placed to challenge but couldn’t keep up with the top two and had to settle for third.
Just three went in the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes and it was the favourite Enbihaar who made light work of this one. Snow tried to offer competition but the winner looked at complete ease, bar a slight wander when out clear in front, and would have had plenty in the tank if required. In the end Snow fell to third and Cabaletta took second.
The Stewards’ Stakes didn’t disappoint with a very tight finish between the top two after the three packs on the inside, outside and centre bunched up towards the end. Summerghand took it after a blockbuster charge under Danny Tudhope to pip Kimifive on the line. The wonderfully named Brian the Snail proved he was no slouch in third with Swindler and Chairmanoftheboard in fifth.
Society Lion showed his expected dominance in this one, taking it with relative ease from a closely-packed field. Mister Snowdon didn’t get the run he needed to challenge while King Ragnar was third.
Titan Rock just had enough to reel in the 66/1 SP Raging Rascal who looked like he might just stay on, but the much-shorter priced horse got the job done by a head. Longlai was the best of the rest in third but it was all about the close finish between the top two.
Muraad put in an astonishing charge at the death to reel in Overwrite who had a four length lead inside the final furlong. Cieren Fallon’s ride just exploded forward from a hopeless-looking position. You’re Hired was some way back in third and Alfred Boucher was fourth.
