Paddy Desmond joined Paddy Power and Ruby Walsh on a special From The Horse’s Mouth to preview a bumper week’s action of racing at the Summer Festival at Galway Races and Glorious Goodwood. Here’s our Director of Racing’s tips for Wednesday and you can hear these, as well as the rest of the podcast, in full below.
This one’s tricky. Steel Bull was pretty impressive, the Irish horse won at Naas the last day, but I thought maybe Sardinia Sunset could be the most solid one. The Queen Mary’s working out, Roger Varian’s in decent form, so Sardinia Sunset, albeit it not that confident!
I think Circus Maximus might be a big price if we get the eight runners and you can get three places. His form over a mile is rock solid, only beaten half a length by Too Darn Hot last year. In saying that I do think Siskinwill be hard to beat but I do think Circus Maximus should not be that much bigger than Mohaather.
It’s tricky as we record working out what will run. Jon Snow may end up running on Thursday so Getaway Gorgeous will likely be Willie Mullins’ main one here if that’s the case. It’s definitely tricky.
Two I like but the one I like most is Early Doors. This looks really well handicapped off a mark of 139. Had a nice prep back and I expect it will go off as favourite for J. P. McManus. At 139 it just looks really well handicapped. The other one that looks really, really solid is Easy Game off 154 it has really good form with horses that are rated in the mid 160s like Faugheen etc so hard to see that not getting placed so Early Doors to win Easy Game to place.
