Horse racing tips: Timeform’s best bets for Monday’s action at Galway

Centroid – 18:15 Galway 

Bred in the purple – a half-brother to Enable – Centroid created a very good impression when making a successful debut at Leopardstown back in 2018, and though he hasn’t really lived up to that promise on his subsequent outings, he has shown signs that he could be ready to fulfil his potential on his two runs since the resumption. Fitter for his reappearance run, he took a step forward when fourth in a big-field handicap at Leopardstown two weeks ago. He is still lightly-raced and holds scope for further progress, particularly with this step up in trip likely to suit.

Elizabethofaragon – 19:15 Galway 

A well-bred sort, Elizabethofaragon has shown little in a trio of maidens, but she proved a totally different proposition upped in trip on her handicap debut at Leopardstown earlier this month, forging clear to win by six lengths. She was upped 14 lb for that win but continued her improvement to defy the rise and make it two wins in as many runs in this code at Down Royal on Friday, though she did need every yard of the 10f trip to do so. This step back up in trip should show her to even better effect, and with apprentice jockey Killian Hennessy’s 7 lb claim offsetting her penalty, she looks to be in with a big chance of landing the hat-trick. 

Each-way 

Eglish – 16:40 Galway 

Eglish eked out a bit more improvement when completing a hat-trick at Dundalk back in February and she has continued in good heart since, hitting the frame in three of her four subsequent runs. She shaped well, not for the first time, when fourth at Naas recently, doing well under the circumstances, not ideally drawn and faring the best of those from the group that raced towards the centre of the track. The way she finished on that occasion suggests this step back up in trip should be viewed positively, and she is certainly one to be interested in here.
