Another weekend of quality racing is fast approaching and the legendary Ruby Walsh is back with more tips on this week’s From The Horse’s Mouth Podcast. Along with Paddy Power and Paddy Desmond, Ruby delivered his best bets for Ascot, York and the Curragh, as well as a NAP at Tramore on Saturday Evening.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum horses have been in absolutely incredible form all year. I like the combo of Roger Varian, Dane O’Neill and Mutamaasik here. He was third at Royal Ascot behind Motakhayyel. I thought a reproduction of that run in the Buckingham Palace would see him fine there and he likes Ascot.
I think whatever way you look at it, no matter if they jump and go flat, turn it into a slog or a real staying race this will suit Enable. I don’t think she’s as quick as she was but that still means she’s quicker than Sovereign, Japan and Anthony Van Dyke.
Anthony Van Dyke should be in the Goodwood Cup, that’s where I’d be running him. He’s crying out to go up in trip. Japan is a game horse, he’s definitely a mile-and-a-half horse but Enable is just too good for them and it’s hard, you couldn’t go against her.
You look at the other three in the race and there’s two that have won over £1m. Sovereign has won £750,000. Enable has won £9.1m in prize money in her career. Enable is just in a different league to these three.
The fact that Jim Crowley has gone to York surely points at Elarqam. I thought he was a little disappointing in his last start when he was only 6th at Ascot behind Fanny Logan in the Hardwicke Stakes, but this is a big drop down. It’ll be Elarqamfor me.
I was probably in the Billesdon Brook camp but her best form is over straight miles, not mile around a bend. She did run well in the Falmouth Stakes and came second.
But Hollie Doyle is having an incredible season. She’s going to ride Stylistique for Roger Varian who was 7th in its last start at Haydock but it won over 7f in Newbury when it beat African Dream by a nose. Stylistiquehas to improve a bit but is entitled to take its chance.
If there is anything in there at 10f that could give Magical a race, even though I don’t think they can, but looking for one at a price maybe Mad Moon (now a non runner). But, Magical, you couldn’t oppose her.

13:50 at Ascot on Saturday – Twaasol
I saw Twaasol beat Modern News in the Woodcote at Epsom. He’s the one for me here.
14:25 at Ascot on Saturday – Mutamaasik
The Hamdan Al Maktoum horses have been in absolutely incredible form all year. I like the combo of Roger Varian, Dane O’Neill and Mutamaasik here. He was third at Royal Ascot behind Motakhayyel. I thought a reproduction of that run in the Buckingham Palace would see him fine there and he likes Ascot.
15:35 at Ascot on Saturday – Enable
I think whatever way you look at it, no matter if they jump and go flat, turn it into a slog or a real staying race this will suit Enable. I don’t think she’s as quick as she was but that still means she’s quicker than Sovereign, Japan and Anthony Van Dyke.

14:40 at York on Saturday – Elarqam
The fact that Jim Crowley has gone to York surely points at Elarqam. I thought he was a little disappointing in his last start when he was only 6th at Ascot behind Fanny Logan in the Hardwicke Stakes, but this is a big drop down. It’ll be Elarqam for me.
15:05 at Ascot on Sunday – Stylistique
I was probably in the Billesdon Brook camp but her best form is over straight miles, not mile around a bend. She did run well in the Falmouth Stakes and came second.
But Hollie Doyle is having an incredible season. She’s going to ride Stylistique for Roger Varian who was 7th in its last start at Haydock but it won over 7f in Newbury when it beat African Dream by a nose. Stylistique has to improve a bit but is entitled to take its chance.
14:55 at the Curragh on Sunday – Magical
If there is anything in there at 10f that could give Magical a race, even though I don’t think they can, but looking for one at a price maybe Mad Moon (now a non runner). But, Magical, you couldn’t oppose her.
Ruby’s From The Horse’s Mouth NAP
