We've asked the Timeform chaps to turn their gaze on Sandown's races for Thursday and they've come up with this trio of top tips

Agent Shiftwell – 16:20 Sandown

Agent Shiftwell signed off for his two-year-old campaign with a straightforward victory in a Wolverhampton minor event and his opening mark looked a fair one on the back of that effort. However, he failed to make an impact on his first three starts in handicap company, including twice after the resumption when fading disconcertingly. He bounced back to form at Yarmouth last week, however, only narrowly failing to win, and it was encouraging to see him finish off his race so strongly. He is able to race off the same mark here, which leaves him officially 2 lb well in, and a low draw in stall 1 could also be a positive.

NEXT BEST

American Entente – 17:25 Sandown

Derdas sets the standard based on his second at Haydock on his first start for Owen Burrows (he had also run to a similar level in France) but he faces a few unexposed rivals, most notably American Entente, who is from a smart family and made an encouraging start to her career when third at Salisbury. She was dropped out in rear from the worst of the draw and took a strong hold in the early stages, but she made good headway from a couple of furlongs out and stayed on well to grab third. She is entitled to improve for that experience and this sister to Air Force Blue can get off the mark.

Vischio – 20:00 Sandown

Vischio has shown gradual run-by-run progress and was only narrowly denied at Windsor last time, going down by just a nose after rallying bravely when headed. She made the running at Windsor but would have been better served by setting a strong pace and putting a greater emphasis on stamina. This stiff, uphill finish will suit a filly who has a good attitude and is strong in the finish, and she is still fairly handicapped after going up only 2 lb.
