Horse Racing results today: All the winners from the big races at Newmarket and Ascot on July Cup day

This is how another thrilling Saturday unfolded.

Oxted July Cup

It’s another weekend of quality racing in the UK and Ireland and you can check out how the drama unfolded on Saturday here.

The July Cup took centre stage at Newmarket where young jockey Cieren Fallon pipped the wily Frankie Dettori, riding Otxed to glory in a thriller that saw Sceptical finish second with Golden Horde in third.

You can find the results, winners and placed horses further down the page but first, our summary of each races as it happened.

Newmarket 1989

Newmarket 13:50 The Bet365 Mile Handicap Stakes – Establish

Establish saw off the two most favoured horses to stay well and take the win in our first race at an SP of 10/1. Eastern World set off as 11/5 fav but couldn’t get it done on late on with Finest Sound fading slightly to round off the top three.

Ascot 14:05 The Woodford Reserve Handicap Stakes – Manaabit

Manaabit won a hotly contested race, showing her class with an SP of 17/2 to hold off Al Rasman and Earth and Sky who ran a good race at 14/1 but couldn’t quite stay on to take the win after showing well throughout.

Newmarket 14:25 The British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap Stakes – Indie Angel

Indie Angel was the overnight favourite but slipped behind Odyssey Girl and Fantail who went off as joint 3/1 favourites. However, it was Indie Angel who proved the best, holding off the joint favourites into second and third respectively. Alabama Whitman came home fourth and if your horse was named here but didn’t win we’re giving you your money back as a free bet up to £10.

Royal Ascot 2020

Ascot 14:40 The Betfred Heritage Handicap Stakes – Carlos Felix

Carlos Felix put in an impressive performance in a small field, lurking at the back for most of the race until kicking on to explode clear from 3f out. He just kept accelerating away from the favourite Celestran and Summit Reach who had no answers when the serious pressure was applied.

Newmarket 15:00 The Bet365 Superlative Stakes – Master Of The Seas

Master Of The Seas was a very eye-catching winner of the Superlative Stakes. He hit the front early and just pulled away from a competitive field to win by a healthy distance. Devious Company was second home ahead of Second Kingdom and Saint Lawrence in third and fourth respectively.

Ascot 15:15 The Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile Stakes – Mohaather

Mohaather managed to find the perfect place on the outside of the pack around half-way back to have plenty of room to explode into from 2f out. In the end he romped the Summer Miler, living up to the pre-Royal Ascot hype that was dampened slightly by an unlucky race three weeks ago. San Donato was second with Duke Of Hazzard and Lord Glitters trailing him but it was all eyes on Mohaather who proved his credentials after an unfortunate trip last time out.

Newmarket 15:35 The Darley July Cup Stakes – Oxted

Cieren Fallon rode the perfect race on Oxted who held off the threat of the two big contenders, Golden Horde and Sceptical, ridden by Frankie Dettori, to win the July Cup Stakes. Oxted picked his line and went for it as the other big names jostled for position. It was a thrilling finish and Oxted was the worthy winner from second-placed Sceptical and Golden Horde in third with Khaadem in fourth.

Golden Horde Royal Ascot 2020

Ascot 15:50 The Fresh Air Helicopters Handicap Stakes – Jawwaal

10/1 starter Jawwaal took it home on the inside rail, winning by a decent margin in this 5f sprint for Michael Dods under Callum Rodriguez. Mountain Peak followed him home with Jonah Jones, Aplomb and Final Venture trailing in that order.

Newmarket 16:10 The Bet365 Bunbury Cup – Motakhayyel

Motakhayyel might consider himself slightly lucky to win here as Sir Busker’s energetic but erratic running meant he carved a route round the outside of the pack towards the inside rail, bumping and battering other horses as he went. While closing rapidly, the extended route meant he had far too much to do to win. Motakhayyel, however, took the lead early and that strong, straight and steady running gave him enough of a gap to see off Sir Busker’s erratic, if thrilling, late charge. Godhead was third with Arigato in fourth and Keyser Soze in fifth.
