Horse Racing tips: 11 wonderful wagers for Belmont Park on Saturday

The Racing Post’s tipster has taken a bite out of some tips at the racecourse in the shadow of the Big Apple.

18:15 Sun Summers

SUN SUMMERS is entitled to come on for her first outing of the season and the form she achieved last term appears to be the strongest on offer. Ideational and Sky Kitten can fight it out for the place money.

18:50 Shamrock Kid

SHAMROCK KID (fourth) was arguably given too much to do when one place behind Foolish Ghost when the pair met here earlier in the month and the former can reverse that form over this extra furlong. The main danger could prove to be Invest, a recent course winner over a mile.

19:23 Bourbon Currency

BOURBON CURRENCY returned to the winners’ enclosure last time after a string of consistent performances in defeat and the five-year-old can strike again with that success under his belt. Yes And Yes is respected, along with Vineyard Sound.

19:55 Timely Tradition

TIMELY TRADITION has impressively notching an Aqueduct/Oaklawn double and could take some stopping in her bid to complete the hat-trick. Fierce Lady and Bertranda top the list of dangers.

20:27 Farragut

FARRAGUT was a big eye-catcher when rattling home to finish second over 6 furlongs here last month and he could prove tough to beat now stepping up half a furlong.

Flying Finish and Your Awesome Boss both made pleasing debuts and are respected, while newcomer Orb In The Tower adds further spice to the race.

20:59 Propensity

PROPENSITY and Ima Pharoah bring a decent level of form to the table and both have their chance, with slight preference for the former, who showed a little more last time out.

There are also a few interesting newcomers in the line-up, including North Carolina and Magic Mojo.

21:32 Royal Charlotte

The Harmony Lodge took place here earlier in the month, with ROYAL CHARLOTTE (second) accounting for Mother Mother (fourth), and that form looks to be worth following in this Grade 3 event.

The talented Come Dancing starts life for a new trainer and makes some appeal with Javier Castellano back on board.

22:04 Mean Mary

Mrs. Sippy was deemed good enough to run in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf last autumn and, dropping in class, she is expected to go close on her seasonal reappearance.

However, stablemate MEAN MARY has been witnessed a couple of times already in 2020, scoring twice, and can continue her progress under Luis Saez. My Sister Nat could take bronze.

22:36 Firenze Fire

FIRENZE FIRE was a respectable fourth in a Grade 1 here earlier this month and having won three in-a-row before that, he makes plenty of appeal.

Promises Fulfilled is also experienced in top contests and warrants respect, with Midnightcharly and Wicked Trick both in fine form when last seen and capable of running with credit.

23:08 Got Stormy

A tremendous race featuring last year’s Breeders’ Cup Mile one-two Uni and GOT STORMY, as well as another Breeders’ Cup winner in Newspaperofrecord. The last named is bursting with talent but she’s headstrong, which led to her having a hard race in her warm-up for this – that is a concern. Quick ground would be another worry.

The forecast is unsettled but if conditions stay on the fast side, then Got Stormy could be the one. The selection has been below form this year, but she ran better than it might have looked last time and this cut back to the bare mile is in her favour.

She’s hard fit whereas her old rival Uni may be a work or two short. A more patient ride than is often the case could also help Got Stormy and she has a new jockey in Luis Saez. Although Saez can be an aggressive rider, there looks to be enough pace in this race for him to take his time so, if things work out for her, Got Stormy could win what is an intriguing, trappy heat.

23:40 Winning Factor

The consistency of WINNING FACTOR could come to the fore here and David Donk’s four-year-old is backed to confirm form over Sir Chubby, who was a place behind the selection when they met recently.

Montauk Summer cost $130,000 and is an interesting newcomer, with Eagles Palace capable if back to his best.
