18:00 Windsor – Bonus (NAP)
BONUS left his previous efforts behind when making a successful handicap debut at Yarmouth on Thursday, quickening clear in the final furlong to win readily by two and three quarter lengths from Gigi’s Beach (who had been sent off odds-on after winning his previous start).
The quick turnaround here is a slight concern, but Bonus looks to hold obvious claims in his follow-up bid if arriving in the same sort of form, potentially very well-in under a 6lb penalty.
The others all have plenty to find with the selection on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings, not to mention less scope for improvement. Elsewhere, Ivadream and Sacred Legacy are two with claims of hitting the frame.
19:00 Windsor – Tenax (Each-Way)
TENAX shaped better than the bare result when seventh on his reappearance at Newcastle two weeks ago, facing an uphill task after a slow start and then meeting traffic when attempting to deliver a challenge in the closing stages.
Likely to strip fitter with that outing under his belt, there is a sound case to be made for him here if reproducing the pick of his 2019 form.
Indeed, he was placed from 2lb higher than this last August and is likely to be suited by the forecast strong pace in this handicap (usually held up for a late run), so it will be disappointing if he doesn’t at least make the frame.
20:30 Windsor – Nova Roma (Next Best)
NOVA ROMA is bred in the purple – by Golden Horn out of a half-sister to Dubai Millennium – and he very much caught the eye when seventh on his debut at Kempton in November, doing well under the circumstances to finish as close as he did.
Always on the backfoot in a steadily-run race, he stayed on gradually in the closing stages without being knocked about. Ultimately never nearer than the five lengths ,he was beaten at the line (finished with running left).
He’ll stay this longer trip comfortably and is expected to make significant progress with that initial experience under his belt, identifying him as very much the one to beat in what is likely to prove an informative finale.
