Irad Ortiz Jr kicked home a brilliant five timer at Belmont Park on Wednesday night and looks set to add to his tally of nine winners from his last 22 rides at the same venue on Thursday evening.
The 27-year-old Puerto Rican is in great demand by a host of different trainers at the New York venue and he could well be worth following this evening at Belmont Park.
Ortiz Jr has ten booked rides, including STONE TORNADO in one of the feature races on the card at 20:27.
Stone Tornado has joined Chad Brown since picking up some Group 3 black type at San Siro in Italy last September and looks to have a great shout in this 7-furlong Allowance Optional Claimer. Ortiz Jr also rides BASQUIAT for the same trainer in the 22:04.
His jockey statistics are just astounding a he’s ridden 138 winners from 526 rides this year and he has at least made the frame on 62% of those rides. Not bad for a 27-year-old millionaire who clearly retains a hunger for winners and can always be relied upon to set perfect fractions when dictating the pace.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see him kick home a few winners tonight to add to his impressive recent tally. Of the 9 races he will ride in tonight, we expect at least five of his mounts to start at odds of 3/1 or shorter.
It’s worth noting that he’s down to ride two in the same race in the 10.36, but you can be sure that whichever he rides will be a leading fancy.
Can he repeat or better last night’s tally? His booked rides are below and the action is covered on Sky Sports Racing. Don’t forget it’s also free to view on Paddypower.com
