Storm The Bridge is edging closer to the winner’s enclosure, but he may have to wait a little while longer because he bumps into a couple of interesting class droppers. Thenextbestthing showed potential last year, but KING OF ROCK took part in a couple of competitive events here and can show his appreciation for having his sights lowered.
Wes Ward holds all the aces here and although Campanelle fetched a big sum at Tattersalls, ROYAL APPROVAL‘s latest workout sways the vote in her favour. Ward has Shan’s Tiger and Into The Sunrise to call upon if this is switched to the main track but, in that case, Carson City Kid would be tough to beat. His trainer Mark Casse also has an interesting newcomer in Kodiak Mamba.
Ingreido has been impressive the last couple of occasions but he takes on some seasoned campaigners as he goes in search of the hat-trick. Federal Case and Aequor are lowered in class, but so is EXAMINER and his turn of foot could be the deciding factor at the business end.
Uncaptured Ruby has been running well in better races of late, while Little Miss Macho has claims now dropping considerably in grade. KOZY DREAMS is preferred here though, as she got within a neck of success over track and trip last time and looks capable of building on that.
Maquiavelo had Awesome Enough, Youreoutofcontrol and Swingin On A Star behind when second on the main track here and could confirm those places if handling the grass as well. However, COLD WARRIOR is preferred by us. He was a neck away from success when third over this track and trip two starts ago, he went close when second on the main track last time and could defy a lengthy absence here.
BUXOM BEAST was considered good enough to make her debut in a Grade 3 at Saratoga and finished in midfield. A shade disappointing last time, she takes a step down in class here and could strike. Got It Made has to be respected on her workout times, though a bigger danger could be Tara, who has gone really close on her last two outings.
MISS MY MACHO has finished a position ahead of Lady Noguez the last pair of outings, including when scoring here at the start of the month, and she is fancied to supplement those gains. There is more to come from A Beautiful Day, so she could play a part as well.
Where Paradise Lay was too good for Frosted Grace when completing a C&D double but his hat-trick plans could be scuppered by ROYAL SQUEEZE, who wasn’t beaten far in a $100k stake last time. First Deal also has plenty of quality and completes the shortlist.
OVERNIGHT SUCCESS has been much improved since switching back to sprint trips and he should step forward from his comeback second at Fair Grounds. Freddy Soto was disappointing last time but accounted for subsequent winner Congrats That on his penultimate appearance and he could be the primary threat.
WHISKEY SUNRISE appeals as the unexposed quantity in here and the progressive three-year-old can get the better of Krammy Boy and Game Boy Benny.
PANAREA is progressive and can go from strength-to-strength now following her breakthrough success here recently. Private Message boasts a similar profile and joins Bramble Bay on the shortlist.
