FIELD BET (13/8) returns at much lower level than when a good third on her latest outing almost a year ago and would be the one to beat if anywhere near full fitness on her reappearance. If she needs the run then fellow class dropper Maries Melody and the progressive Wonder Blondy will be ready to pounce.
The betting market can prove the best guide in this race of mainly newcomers, but PALADIO (2/1) has been working well for an in-form yard and gets the tentative vote ahead of Turpial, Mamba On Three and Fun Loaded.
Generic Mark and Etana both won maidens on dirt latest and would have sound claims if taking to turf, but preference is for the proven grass form of LITTLE BELLA (12/1). She has been finishing fast to go close over 5f and should relish this step up to a route.
AUBURN (5/1) was running well in better events than this before not appreciating the switch to turf latest and could be worth siding with now dropped in class for his return to dirt. Rack Daddy is respected after an encouraging reappearance and Queen Letizia is open to further progress after a silver medal over 6f here last time.
Baseline Drive must be considered on debut for the powerful Chad Brown yard, but slight preference is for the experience of BY HIS GRACE (12/1), who has gone close at decent odds here the last twice and could get an easy lead. Amadora, Aizu, Mo Of The West and Awesome Ella add further spice to tricky contest.
Karen’s Cove won well in this grade last time and is considered here, along with He Iz Gone, who takes a fairly significant step down the class ladder for this. Joe Di Baggio shouldn’t be underestimated, but MUSTANG CAT (2/1) comes into this on the back of an excellent second at Fair Grounds last time and could go one better.
Both Genghis and Quality On Tap have outstanding claims if this race is switched to the main track, but AWESOME PARTY looks the one to side with on grass after he had Neverstopdreaming behind when successful here last time. Blazing Desire is another to keep an eye on.
MIDTOWN ROSE (13/8) got the better of Flashing Diamond in their battle for second place here last time and the extra yardage looks more likely to suit Saffie Joseph’s runner. Sky Chaser is interesting in her hat-trick bid, while Archumybaby has claims if finding her best form.
NO NO NINA has progressed with each run and any improvement on her second over track and trip last time could make her tough to beat. Princess Avril has to be considered after going close on her turf debut last time, while Dancingwithjimmieb is another to note.
