The opening action at Fonner Park is a race for three-year-olds and older and a small field of six heading to post. Five of the field have managed to win over this distance in the past, but Dion caught the eye, was an impressive winning favourite last time out.
He is also the most experienced in the line up with 25 career starts managing to win six of these and placing five other times.
The Bethke father/son combo has had many winners here and could kick off the card in style.
A claiming contest for three-year-olds and older with a solid field of 7 declared. I’m siding with Big Guy Ian, who moved to a new stable following in early April after winning.
He followed up on his first run for his new connections was a beaten favourite last time.
Jockey Freddy Manrrique hs only ridden here nine times but has win three and been placed another three times form those mounts. He takes the reins tonight so Buy Guy Ina gets the nap selection.
College Party has managed three runs in claiming company, winning two and placing the other time. He was a beaten second favourite last time out, but has improved on ratings in all his three runs, so seems to be on an upward curve.
He could win again at a decent price.
Banker Nita will be fancied in the finale after winning her last two starts but I am going to chance Jessica Glitters.
She doesn’t have a brilliant strike rate with just one win in 16 career starts but has been placed five times in that time also. last 2 runs. Jockey Dakota Wood has an extremely healthy strike rate with placed horses (returning $107 for a $1 stake) and Jessica Glitters could be doing all her best work at the finish.
