Paddy Power are running another FREE fantasy US horse racing contest this Thursday, May 21st. The action starts with the first race at Gulfstream park at 5:45pm, so get your entries in before then!
It’s another mixed card with 10 races on the turf and dirt at the Florida venue. Unfortunately, the wet weather we had last week looks set to continue with scattered thunderstorms in the area and there is a 40 per cent chance of rain.
There are likely to be plenty of non-runners, so don’t forget to keep tabs on your stable. If you do have a late non-runner, you can always replace your selection with another runner. Just click on the “Quick player replace” tab to make a change, you can do this at any time before the race in question starts.
Let’s have a quick reminder of the rules before we try and find some value selections.
Put simply, horses finishing in the top four places in each race are awarded points as follows:
W (Win) – 5 pts
P (Place- 2nd place) – 3 pts
S (Show- 3rd place) – 2 pts
F (Fourth) – 0.75 pts
The aim of the game is to collect the most points across the card. Do that and you net your share of £/€1,000!
You get an overall budget of €21 to use over all 10 races at Gulfstream Park. The horse salaries range from €4 (big fancies) to €1 (outsiders) and you pick one horse each race. No betting, no forecasts and no placepots. Just a simple “pick a horse” style.
So, we’ve set the scene, now let’s have a look at some value bets on the card.
The €4 Nap
Race 2– Lime – Beautifully-bred filly who is the only runner in the field with racecourse experience, looks to be the class act on the card.
The €3 Bankers
Race 1 – Setting the Mood – Was impressive when runner-up on debut and should build on that.
Race 4 – Fractorzation -Has run well in better races than this and she has the potential to win on her Florida debut.
The €2 Value Runners
Race 3 – Monmouth DR – Good win last time out and now in a stable that mops up these types of races.
Race 5 – Money Come – Has been unlucky in his last two runs and can take advantage of a plum draw in stall one.
Race 7 – Valdocco – Ultra-consistent, has been second in last three races and should score points.
Race 9 – Wentz -Another one beautifully drawn, has the speed to win from gate to post under in-form jockey Luis Saez.
The €1 Bargain Basement
Race 6 – Indirectly – Finished second over course and distance back in January and is well capable of getting placed at big odds.
Race 8 – Toleration – Has winning form on lesser tracks, she could spring a surprise.
Race 10 – Somethinstappin – Was a winner last time out at Gulfstream but will have to overcome a long lay-off.
Good luck with your selections, and don’t forget all the races are shown live on Sky Sports Racing. We are running a free fantasy US racing contest every Thursday throughout the month of May so check out our Paddy Power Fantasy page for details.
