General Ike has won two of his last three, with his defeat coming at the hands of hat-trick seeker Best Two Minutes. Both merit respect here, as do Stormy Pacific, Rocky Boy Indian and Westmont, but DOC CURLIN has been acquitting himself well at Oaklawn and can make a successful start to life at this venue.
20:45 – Mayfair Heights @ 11/4
MAYFAIR HEIGHTS and What Thinking both drop out of maiden special weight company and the former seems the more likely stayer so gets a tentative nod in a contest that won’t take much winning. Midnight Drama made a bright start to his career and rounds out the shortlist.
21:15 – Bright Bling @ 5/2
Shanghai Sally had subsequent winner Justaboutright back in third when successful over track and trip, but she was previously put in her plate by Sweet Mary M. The latter has since disappointed, and the safest option could be reliable filly BRIGHT BLING.
21:45 – Diamonata @ 11/8
DIAMONATA improved from her debut seventh to finish fourth over an extended five furlongs here earlier this month and any further progress from that effort could suffice. Los Suenos invariably runs her race in this company and looks next best ahead of Twilight Glow.
22:15 – Spirit Of Caledon @ 1/1
Bay Area boasts enough back class to suggest he can make his presence felt while June Two Four had in been in decent form prior to his latest sixth and could easily bounce back. However, SPIRIT OF CALEDON has run well in stronger races than this of late and won’t find many easier opportunities to regain the winning thread.
22:45 – Rahaal @ 6/4
RAHAAL lost out by a head when runner-up over six furlongs here earlier this month and he looks to have been found a decent opportunity to shed the maiden tag. Malibu June and Austin Calling both have their sights lowered and are respected with West Coast Broker another to consider.
23:15 – Quality Rocket @ 7/2
United Patriot has been performing with credit in recent months and is respected while Kirk Of Diamonds goes well around here and ought to be thereabouts. However, QUALITY ROCKET hinted his turn could be near when runner-up over six furlongs here last month and this longer trip promises to suit.
23:45 Hoboken @ 11/8
HOBOKEN sauntered clear to score by nearly six lengths over six furlongs here last month and is difficult to oppose after such a dominant performance. Spendaholic posted a solid effort when runner-up over track and trip last month and rates next best ahead of White Russian.
