EL SCORCHO hasn’t offered much encouragement in a couple of starts over track and trip, but they came in $50k events and she can capitalise on this drop in class. Josefa and Dona Camile will also find this easier than previous assignments.
Go Jo Jo Go’s stable is in form so she commands attention, while Acting Lucky and Rock With Robin also make some appeal. DAYOUTOFTHEOFFICE hasn’t shown as much in the mornings, but the daughter of Into Mischief is fancied to leave that behind now things get serious.
Sea Lover has looked the part at Tampa, but his unbeaten record could be brought to an end by BAHAMIAN PRINCE, who is such a reliable sprinter and may prove too strong. Flash Pass and Gran Hombre are others who must enter the reckoning.
CAPTAIN DUKE displayed plenty of early dash before weakening into sixth over an extended five furlongs here last month and any normal amount of improvement on that effort could see him difficult to beat. Tiger’s Back posted his best effort to date when fifth over a mile here last month and may prove the biggest danger ahead of Sudden Capture.
DIZZY GILLESPIE finished a fair third in a stronger event over track and trip last month and could prove difficult to beat back in calmer waters from a favourable berth. Stone Hands drops significantly in grade and looks capable of making his presence felt, while Crea’s Bklyn Law has joined leading connections since his last run and is respected.
FRESCO was a solid third on debut over track and trip in January and could prove a tough nut to crack with that experience under her belt. So Darn Hot kept on nicely enough when third on her first outing and has claims, while newcomers Thankful and Pseudonym are well worth a second glance.
Beyond Gone has won two of his last three and is likely to make his presence felt, while Unprecedented showed plenty of grit to win his maiden latest and can be a factor. MASERATI MAN gets the vote, however, as he signed off last term with a runaway success here and has returned with a pair of solid placed efforts.
DON’T GET KHOZY touched off Blessed Beast (Fast Venezuela third) to land a similar C&D event last time out and another bold bid beckons from Antonia Sano’s filly. She gets the nod over Napa Rules, who goes for a quick-fire double after scoring here on Sunday.
BRONX BEAUTY is used to mixing in better company and sets a clear standard on her form last summer, when landing a number of more valuable events than this. She could take some beating if ready to roll after a break, but if she needs the run then the match-fit Day By Day and Violent Times will be ready to pounce after knocking on the door recently.
COOKIE COVE only found one too good in a more valuable C&D event last time out and is fancied to go one better now eased in class, possibly at the main expense of Espiritu De Luna and Hechizada.
