Horse Racing tips: Be shrewd at Saint-Cloud with these 5 Tuesday picks

Another early start for Sky Sports racing.

French Racing Victor Ludorum

10:10 – SEALIWAY @ 11/2

A juvenile maiden to kick-off action at Saint-Cloud with the entire field having their first starts on the racetrack over six-furlongs. Xaario is an interesting runner for trainer Pia Brandt and jockey Maxime Guyon who teamed up with Miss Extra who won a handicap at Longchamp on Monday.

Donttellyourmother could be the best of the fillies with Christophe Soumillon booked to ride for trainer Andrew Hollinshead.

Sealiway is our tentative selection under Pierre-Charles Boudot and could represent value in an open affair. The son of Galiway should appreciate the soft conditions on pedigree and trainer Frederic Rossi’s runners ran well on Monday in Paris, including securing a winner with My Charming Prince.

11:10 – UNDARK @ 4/1 (nap)

Another maiden for unraced horses but this one for three-year-olds over one-mile with some beautiful pedigrees on show from several French power houses. Hurricane Cloud, a son of Frankel takes the eye for Pascal Bary and Pierre-Charles Boudout with Westeros, Undark and Whaze just a few others who could make a winning debut.

Despite Victor Ludorum’s defeat in Paris on Monday, trainer Andre Fabre did secure a winner with Tropbeau and Undark is our selection for the master French handler. Karakontie, the sire of Undark managed to win on debut for the Niarchos Family in July 2103 under Stephane Pasquier. Many years later the jockey continues his partnership for the owners and this horse would enjoy the trip and ground conditions today.

11:40 – PERHAPS @ 7/2

The maiden puzzle continues in this one-mile contest for fillies and yet again we see some smartly bred newcomers among a big-field of sixteen-runners. Joyous Sounds represents Godolphin and is trained by Andre Fabre who also runs Rose D’Etoile for the Coolmore team. Elsewhere, Gellhorn, Metaphore and Via Liguria are other interesting contenders.

However, the Francis Graffard trained Perhaps gets the verdict under jockey Christophe Soumillon. The daughter of Lope De Vega will be suited by conditions on debut and she looks a value each-way alternative from the Fabre pair on debut. Graffard also had several horses run well in Paris on Monday which boosts the confidence that his runners are forward on return from the break.

14:00 – ENZEL @ 9/5

The feature Tourbillon Stakes looks an absolute cracker with this conditions race open to a handful of serious contenders. Port Guillaume has secured two victories at Cagnes, while Dawn Intello, Enzel and Mare Australis also put their unbeaten records on the line over the extended ten-furlong trip today.

Dawn Intello was workmanlike in victory at Deauville on debut while Alfareeq was too classy for rivals at the same venue in February. Mare Australis won at Munich last year and has a first start for Andre Fabre, but Enzel gets the vote.

Soumillon takes over in the saddle today after an impressive victory on heavy ground here last November and he might have the class to improve further today.

14:35 – VIENNE @ 9/5

The Prix Durban is another conditions race on the card over the extended 10 furlong trip for three-year-old fillies. It’s hard to look past the Jean-Claude Rouget trained Vienne under jockey Cristian Demuro in this small field of seven-runners. He had well in races at Deauville and Longchamp before securing her maiden on heavy ground at Compiegne last October.

Another front-running display looks on the cards from Vienne, with the exposed Anobar the main market rival having been placed on too many previous occasions. Gelinka looks interesting with Soumillon booked but Irska could represent the biggest danger to our selection if handling the softer going today following her decent debut victory at Chantilly in early March.
