Dundalk 6:00 Fastidious
Looks as if his shrewd young handler Michael O’Callaghan has lined them up for one last punt judging on his past performance. The old boy always requires a run off a break and quite clearly blew up last time. Well drawn to attack and dangerously well handicapped, the 10-year-old will not get too many better opportunities to win another race.
Dundalk 6:30 Lady Rosebud
Ran a much better race than it looked behind the well-punted Latchet (runs here at 6pm) at this venue last time. There is no getting away from the fact that she is well handicapped and add to that all of her wins have come on the all-weather. It’s a very good opportunity for her rider Conor Maxwell to get another Flat winner on the board, as he is a very accomplished pilot over jumps.
Newcastle 6:45 Jack The Truth
Put up a good performance here last time over the minimum 5f trip, looking for all the world like the extra furlong will suit in this contest. Interestingly, his Newmarket handler George Scott has decided to make the long trek north again. Jockey George Wood is an excellent booking.
Newcastle 7:45 Mininggold
Comes from a top-drawer sprint academy in the Michael Dods yard and brings in some very decent recent form to the race. Look back through her form and you will see just one run here at Newcastle win fifth of five. Watch the replay however and she was not beaten far and had a very troubled passage.
Been drawn on the right part of the track on Friday night is an added bonus.
Dundalk 7:30: Chess Grand Master
Did us a favour last week when advised early doors at 4/1, so I’m certainly not going to let him run loose tonight!.
He went up 6 lbs but that shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience as he looks nowhere near his ceiling rating yet. He drops back down in distance but ought to have the required ability to cope with this task. I’m not going to question Joseph O’Brien.
Dundalk 8:30 Another Dressin
Got herself a little worked up beforehand last time which wouldn’t of helped her cause. She was also drawn in the car park for that 11 furlong contest, for what is arguably one of the trickiest starts at Fundalk,
A much better berth on Friday night will help and hopefully she behaves a little better. Looking at the line-up she is one of only a few possible improvers in the field with low mileage on the clock. Go Gaarrrvinnnnnnnn!
