18:15 – WICKED SOLUTION

A handful of contenders over the one-mile trip for this claimer, our second race on the Gulfstream card this Saturday. Midnight Gem will be popular having Zayas in the saddle with Vickeythebest also on the shortlist dropping down in grade.

However, Wicked Solution gets the vote having finished a solid second in this grade earlier this month and will be played late again by jockey Miguel Vasquez.

18:45 – LANSE MITAN

Four newcomers and several exposed runners do battle this maiden claimer over 6-furlongs where Lanse Mitan can finally get off the mark. The three-year-old has finished in the frame in three of his six starts to date against much better opposition. The services of jockey Luis Saez is another plus with lightly raced Storm the Bridge looking the biggest danger following a good second on debut.

19:46 – ASHIHAM (NAP)

Chad Brown has only had twelve horses from 49-runners at Gulfstream this year (2020) finish unplaced and his sole runner on the card is newcomer Basquiat. It would not be a surprise if the Peter Brant owned runner wins on debut, but the more valued decision would be to side against him with Ashiham for Sheikh Hamdam.

Luis Saez takes the ride for new trainer Todd Pletcher as former handler Kiaran McLoughlin retired to become the agent of Saez. This horse caught the eye when staying on to finish fourth on debut in February and the extra furlong tonight will be a major positive. The form of his debut run has worked out also with the second Candy Machine winning here earlier this month.

20:48 – SHAMROCKET

Venezuelan Hug was flying home to finish third here last month and now has a first run for new trainer Danny Gargan with Luiz Suez booked. Another grey, Mystery Bank failed to catch the eye when plugging on to finish in the money again last month, while Freedom Force could run into a place stepping up in trip.

Shamrocket looks the best pick with Irad Ortiz Jr back in the saddle for trainer Christophe Clement tonight. He was tried in much better maiden special weight’s last year, before finishing second on his Gulfstream debut in March. He was an unlucky third on his latest start having to come extremely wide from a long-way back and he can gain compensation tonight with victory.

21:21 – LEGIT (NEXT-BEST)

Scars Are Cool has been running consistently against slightly better opposition of late with another solid run expected for trainer Stanley Hough. Noble Thought is another of interest with previous stakes form in the book and returns tonight following an absence since December. War Giant steps back up in grade following a recent win but lightly raced Legit is our selection.

The son of Curlin made a winning debut here in April 2018 before following up on a sloppy track at Pimlico a month later (May 2018). He was certainly entitled to his comeback run last month when placed last turning for home before making eye-catching ground to finish an excellent third. Irad Ortiz Jr takes the ride for the first time and the extra two-furlongs tonight are two major positives.

21:53 – DR POST

The 75k Unbridled Stakes is the feature race on the Gulfstream card with a field of seven-runners over the 8.5-furlong trip. Americanus was outclassed in the Nashua Stakes at Aqueduct last November before a recent allowance success and he deserves his chance here for trainer Mark Hennig. Relentless Dancer finish fourth in the Tampa Derby while South Bend returns to dirt tonight.

Attachment Rate was ahead of Necker Island in the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct and looks the main danger to our selection Dr Post for Irad Ortiz Jr and Todd Pletcher. He deserves his first start in stakes company following a maiden victory in March – that performance was decent off a slow pace and he looks the type for Pletcher who could develop into a very nice horse in time.
