An interesting maiden claimer to kick-off Thursday card at Gulfstream over the 5-furlong trip with Mark Casse, and Wesley Ward with runners. Casse runs both newcomer Violet Flight and Speedy Hans with Call Curt for Edgard Zayas a strong contender after a debut second in January. However, it might be wise to side withShe’s Just Quality on debut for Wesley Ward – the filly has been working well and any market support from this nice draw from be worth watching closely.
The second race of the night is a pretty poor 5.5-furlong maiden claimer with little strength in depth among a big field. Markistan and Mystic Comin Home are in with each-way chances but Bibianalooks the solid selection. She got tired late on when finishing sixth on a come-back run in January and now drops into weaker company for Saffie Joseph and should dominate from the front.
Another pick for jockey Tyler Gaffalione with Papa’s Little Girl in the 6-furlong claimer (our third race) at Gulfstream. Unlike many rivals she’s been in consistent form this year and a strong pace would play right into strengths – you won’t see her early but watch the backend of the field in the closing stages to see her flying home late.
A good looking maiden special weight with Chad Brown, Todd Pletcher Wesley Ward and Christophe Clement with runners. The Chad Brown pair, Altaf and Publication were taken out of a race last week and make their debuts, but Cat Ladyis the one to side with here. She was behind Highland Glory on debut with that horse taken the Sanibel Stakes last weekend – that’s solid form and expect Pletcher’s to take all the beaten.
We push forward for another maiden special weight for our next selection at Gulfstream on Thursday with Never Forget our pick. Token and Envoutante will be popular but Joe Bravo’s mount is more interesting stepping up in trip tonight. He got stuck in a pocket turning for home on the rail at Tampa last month and looked slightly unlucky – this step up in trip will suit and I’d expect a big run tonight.
