Horse Racing tips: These 8 could be great at Tampa Bay tonight

Racing continues today at Tampa Bay Downs, behind closed doors, as the Florida venue hosts an eight-race card that is live on Sky Sports racing.

16:40 – LEAVING HOME @ 9/1 

We get the ball rolling with an extra place race as Paddy is paying three places instead of two. Cpl. Dionicio and the recently gelded Donnie Brasco look set to battle it out for favouritism. But LEAVING HOME could contest the lead throughout and is worth an each-way play at decent odds with the excellent place terms on offer.

17:15 – CULTURAL MANDATE @ 11/4 

CULTURAL MANDATE can overcome the widest draw of all. The selection can make amends for her recent course and distant second place run and has been a model of consistency around the Tampa Bay track.

Mardi Gras Girl is the one to beat but there’s a suspicion she might be better at the shorter trip.

17:45 – BAHAMA PEARL @ 6/4 

BAHAMA PEARL should be allowed to dictate from the front here and a return to the firm if her debut run will make her very difficult to beat. The well bred Timeless Di is one to note in the betting on her racecourse debut.

18:15 -THE CURT FOX 

The first turf race on the card and Samy Camacho, who rode a double at this venue on Sunday, can score again on THE CURT FOX. This 6 year old is trip and ground versatile, has won eight career races and can take advantage of a drop in class here.

18:46 – MY BOY LENNY @ 15/8 

MY BOY LENNY looks poised to follow up his recent course victory, he has won five times from 5 to 6 furlongs and the step up to 7 furlongs should be no problem. The selection is making his debut for the Darien Rodriguez yard who have a particularly good strike rate with debutants in these events.

Town Classic and General Paddy look the biggest dangers.

19:18- NORTH DAKOTA

On the back of his recent run at Gulfstream, NORTH DAKOTA is the one they all have to beat here. The form of that race has worked out really well and new trainer Claude McGaughey looks to have found a great opportunity for his new inmate.

Idle Time is a nicely bred newcomer who requires a market check.

19:48 – MAMAIGOTTIS @ Evs

MAMAIGOTTHIS has been improving with each racecourse experience and can win at the fourth time of asking in this moderate affair. The selection was only beaten 3/4 of a length last time out and is taken to go one better today.

20:18 – Biz Maker

BIZ MAKER was beaten just a head in her most recent run here when failing to justify favouritism last month. The selection can take advantage of her early tactical speed to make amends in the finale today. VK Legacy is very experienced and can run on late into a place.
