On The Slopes can’t really be opposed. He won on Trials Day at Cheltenham in January when he was third behind Simply The Betts and Imperial Aura. Of course those two have both won handicaps at Cheltenham in the past week off much higher marks.
On The Slopes did win at Kempton a few weeks back off a mark of 129. The seven-pound rise would look lenient, and he’ll take an awful lot of beating.
The EBF Mares’ Final from Sandown last weekend has moved to Kempton for this Saturday, and I still think Mcfabulous is going to be tough to beat off a mark of 132.
I had him on my mind for the Coral Cup during the week, but he was rated too low to get in. He won an Aintree Grade 2 bumper last season and he absolutely bolted up at Market Rasen last time out, beating two horses around 130.
He ran all over them, and looks set to do well in this race.
