Ardamir used to be trained by Alan King and recently had his first start for Gordon Elliot at Naas last month where he went off at 33/1. He must have needed the run, and put in a cracker coming second to Aarons Day, who was following up a win previously.
A couple of other horses have come out of that race and run well since. The seventh from that day, Muhaafiz, was second at Naas on his next behind Wajaaha. And the 14th Pound A Stroke won a handicap chase at Clonmel. He’d be interesting.
Treacysenniscorthy could have gone to the Pertemps at Cheltenham having won a qualifier before Christmas off a mark of 119. He beat Ronald Pump in that one who was second in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival.
He’s now up to a mark of 138 over hurdles but he’ll go back to 119 over fences, and if he can replicate his hurdles form he’ll be very difficult to beat.
