Champion Chase tips: Paddy Power experts debate winner of Cheltenham race

Defi De Seuil Barry Geraghty

FRANK HICKEY

This is going to be the race of the week, isn’t it? Altior is the one I don’t like of the top three, which includes Defi Du Seuil and Chacun Pour Soil. His Champion Chase win last year won’t be good enough to win this time.

There’s not much between the other two. I’d probably just go for Defi Du Seuil. He’s got a good record at Cheltenham. He’s won every race this year impressively. He stays and travels well, but there’s not much between them.

PAUL JACOBS

I thought Chacun Pour Soil was impressive last time at Leopardstown, but bloody hell did he have a tough race that day. They raced from a long way out and it was a brutal trip which could have taken it out of him.

I think Defi Du Seuil is improving but I still don’t think he’s good enough.

Altior reminds me of Hurricane Fly. He’s got older and lazier, but like Hurricane Fly he’s very hard to beat. Cheltenham is like a home game for Altior. He’ll be very hard to beat here.
