Champion Bumper tips: Paddy Power experts debate winner of Cheltenham race

Ruby Walsh, Frank Hickey, Lizzie Kelly and Paul Jacobs were speaking at a live recording of our From the Horse’s Mouth Podcast

RUBY WALSH

Ferny Hollow might be an exceptionally talented horse, but I’ve watched him blow it a few times. I’m not sure he’s got the mentality to deal with Cheltenham yet. He might have in a year or two, but I’d much rather Appreciate It who is a more mature, developed individual who is going to take to the occasion.

LIZZIE KELLY

I really like Israel Champ. He’s looked pretty impressive over here so far this season.

PAUL JACOBS

There’s two who stand out. That’s Appreciate It, who is the favourite, and a 14/1 shot called Ocean Wind. He was brilliant last time out in a listed bumper at Newbury. He tore the field to shreds. He’s got a massively high cruising speed and good turn of foot.

He’s run well at Cheltenham before too, which is a good prerequisite to have. If you’re looking value, Ocean Wind is it.

FRANK HICKEY

Appreciate It has been very impressive, but it’s not a great price. One that stands out as good value, and I’m not sure if she’s going to run, is Delvino for Dermot McLoughlin. She ran the race with Ballyadam which was won by Julies Stowaway at Navan in mid-February.

She travelled like a weapon and just got out-stayed. I’d be looking at the without market if she showed up. If she doesn’t she’ll probably go to Aintree. Keep an eye on her she’s very good.
