This seven-year-old was smartly campaigned by his trainer last season to pick up a lovely pot at the Punchestown Festival. The horses next start was the Galway Festival where he won a beginners chase despite an erratic round of jumping. He began his winter campaign with a highly commendable second to leading Arkle chase fancy Cash Back at Naas. He faces nothing of that ilk here and it will be very disappointing if Zero Ten doesn’t put away this opposition, as his price reflects.
This ex-French performer almost made the perfect start for the Gordon Elliott yard when finishing second at Fairyhouse on New Years Day. The horse may have been turned out too quickly when a disappointing favourite at Punchestown on its next start. Hopefully it can progress again now going up in trip with the excellent Rachael Blackmore booked, in a race where Paddy is paying the first 5 home.
He could make a mark in some of the big Festival handicaps as the season goes on.
This grey horse has been plying his trade in some good handicap chases and returns to hurdles for the first time since 2018 rated a whopping 34lbs lower than it’s current chase mark. He was last seen finishing an honourable seventh in the Thyestes at Gowran Park.
If he can carry that form back to this discipline then he is sure to take all the beating. The three mile trip and testing conditions hold no fears for this seasoned campaigner.
