It’s finally here. I’ve actually been very excited for a long time about this weekend. Delighted Johnny Sexton got the captaincy too, he deserves it.
In other news though, there is the small/major other sporting event happening – the Dublin Racing Festival. We’ve got a cracking weekend planned for Leopardstown and can I just say, it’s bloody brilliant we’re sponsoring the Irish Gold Cup. Aside from it getting me two days at the track with a pint in my hand (I may have to do some work), the quality of racing is second to none.
It also, unfortunately, coincides at exactly the same time that my ante-post bets are made woefully redundant – but I’ll get over it. Where’s Frank Hickey??
Anyway, we’ve added the Gold Cup to our racing sponsorship portfolio and Sunday is set to be a cracker. It’s the richest prize of the two-day extravaganza (no cheapskates in here) with a cool €250,000 on offer so you can expect some serious performers to line up – Kemboy, Delta Work, Bellshill, Sizing John – the list goes on.
It’s such a great weekend of racing. It was always the Hennessy, a very famous race – we really should’ve named it the Paddy Power Hennessy. Poor Form.
How you know it’s going to be a great weekend of racing is, Ruby is excited about it. And, that doesn’t happen too often. He’s even booked himself a hotel for the two nights.
But get yourselves there. It will be worth every penny. We’re going to give it socks and let’s just say you’re going to know who sponsors it. We’ll even give you tips here on Paddy Power News to hopefully recoup your drinking money.
We’re also doing a live podcast specifically for it with Ruby, Tom (with the big head, from the social team), Mick Fitz and trader tipster extraordinaire, Frank the Tank Hickey. Don’t miss it. We’ll talk a lot of shi*te but also a lot of racing.
Oh, and one final thing. Book Monday off.
